Natural water flows contain an enormous amount of energy, and occur reliably and predictably around the world in various forms. Tidal lagoons can provide coastal clean energy via enhanced perpetually occurring tidal flows, night and day, all year long. Our research at a local tidal lagoon indicates that an average daily tidal change of just 3.5 feet generates a flow between 4-6 mph for a duration lasting 4 out of 5 hours
from two inlet channels measuring 10 feet deep and 10 feet wide.
HCS has developed a technology to harness this energy, with minimal impact to the environment.
We have achieved proof-of-concept in an uncontrolled environment, and have now built a flow channel for further development and scientific validation of our technology.
Our channel flows water through twin 30 x 32 inch channels
with maximum velocity of approximately 1.6 mph.
In 2017 R&D Engineer, Dr. Pietro Valsecchi, who specializes in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), joined our mission. His expertise and field experience has led to his engineering a documentation system and validation method to authenticate our water channel. He has scientifically validated our technology and its energy conversion capabilities.
He has also co-authored our paper for the
American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
